Crawley claim well-deserved draw as they halt Luton's winning streak

Luton's bid for a fifth successive league win was thwarted at Crawley where the hosts deservedly claimed a point in a 0-0 draw.

Crawley were much improved following their 2-0 home defeat against Chesterfield in midweek, and the result ended a run of four consecutive home defeats for Harry Kewell's side.

Crawley skipper Jimmy Smith had a 25-yard shot saved low down by keeper Marek Stech before opposite number Glenn Morris came out of his area to clear at the feet of the on-rushing Harry Cornick.

Luton keeper Stech moved smartly to his right to keep out a goal-bound left-foot shot from top-scorer Jordan Roberts in front of the away supporters.

The Hatters carved out an opening 10 minutes before the interval when Luke Berry fed Jack Stacey, but Morris made a smothering save.

Defender Dan Potts later headed wide at the far post from Luton's first corner from Alan Sheehan.

Luton striker James Collins, who hit 22 goals in 51 games for Crawley last season, threatened nine minutes after the break when he shot across the face of the goal from a pass by Danny Hylton.

The Hatters again went close when, from a cross by Sheehan, Glen Rea had a header saved low down by Morris.

Roberts went close to snatching a winner for Crawley late on when his close range shot was well saved by Stech.
