Colchester midfielder Tom Lapslie sent off in tepid draw with Coventry

Colchester midfielder Tom Lapslie was sent off for two bookings in less than a minute during their 0-0 draw with Coventry.

The 22-year-old was booked for a foul before being shown red for a deliberate handball just moments later at the Ricoh.

The goalless draw means Tony Mowbary's Sky Blues have now failed to score in an agonising 441 league minutes.

Even Lapslie's sending off 14 minutes from time did nothing to solve Coventry's crisis in front of goal.

Both sides had chances but failed to break the deadlock as the side's goalkeepers had barely anything to do all day.

The best chances of the game came right at the death as hosts' defender Ryan Haynes missed two glorious opportunities to grab the points.

First he fired wide with just five minutes left before heading Jorden Shipley's corner over in stoppage time.
