Collins, Richards and Hylton in the running for Jan's League Two PFA Fans' Player of the Month

James Collins is fighting tooth and nail to land the title of Fans’ Player of the Month for January – but the Shrewsbury striker is facing tough opposition.

Collins took his goal tally for the season to 14 in the recent 3-2 win over Stevenage, his late second securing the points which projected the Shrews into the top two.

The Shrewsbury striker, however, is being pushed all the way to the line by teammate Liam Lawrence who has played a key role in the club’s promotion push.

Marc Richards of Northampton continues to lead the way in the goalscoring charts and that is a fitting tribute given the Cobblers’ mid-table position.

The same could be said of Oxford’s 14-goal striker Danny Hylton who is playing a huge part in keeping the U’s just above the drop zone.

Back at the top end of the table, Fred Onyedinma is fast becoming a hero at Wycombe, having followed up his winner against Hartlepool with further goals against York and Bury.

The talented midfielder, on loan from Millwall, has added to the goalscoring threat already provided by Paul Hayes and Peter Murphy as Wycombe sit proudly at the top of the table after a ten-match unbeaten run.

Burton Albion continue to thrive under the guidance of striking legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, and Adam McGurk came off the bench to score a vital equaliser against York to keep the Brewers hot on the heels of the top two in League One.

Ruben Reid has been in fine form for Plymouth who were unlucky to go down 1-0 to Luton for whom another fans’ player of the month contender, Andy Drury, was the match winner.
