Coleman heaps praise on Real

Chris Coleman has hailed Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti as 'magnificent' ahead of Gareth Bale's return to the Welsh fold.

The world's most expensive footballer will line up for Ancelotti's Madrid against Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu on Saturday and then looks set to earn his 48th cap for Wales when they travel to Belgium in a crucial Euro 2016 qualifier.

While sceptics suggested his record-breaking move last summer would see Bale's appearances in a red shirt rapidly decrease there has not been a hint of a club versus country row.

And Coleman spoke of his pleasure that the Spanish giants quickly clarified that the winger's buttock muscle injury was not picked up during Wales' October double-header with Bosnia and Cyprus but following his return to Spain.

"We can't ask for any more from Carlo or Madrid, they have been magnificent," he said. "We couldn't have had any more support.

"When Gareth went back from the last camp and then he missed a few games it was reported in Spain that it was due to an injury from when he was in the Welsh camp and Carlo came out immediately and said that it was not true, he sustained the injury since he had been with Madrid."

Bale hit the bar on his return to action as a second-half substitute in their Champions League victory over Liverpool on Tuesday night having missed their last five games with that injury and Coleman believes his outing in the Primera Division this weekend should benefit the principality.

"I am glad Baley is starting to be honest," he said. "He'll need at least an hour probably because he has missed some games. It will be good for him, he looked sharp and bright the other night when he came on.

"I think if he gets an hour or plays 90 minutes it'll do us good."
