Manchester City have put Marco Reus on the list of players to secure during the summer transfer window according to reports in the Daily Star which claim that the £20million release clause will be triggered by the Manchester club.

City of course are not the only club looking to pounce on Reus in the summer with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United also named as clubs looking to target the versatile player.

Pellegrini is said to be in a confident mood that the financial muscle of the Abu Dhabi United Group will give them the edge despite FFP restrictions.

The Star claims that City will offer a deal that will make Reus one of the highest paid footballers in world football at £200,000-a-week.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder/winger has been sidelined with an ankle ligament injury since November and is just returning to action with his club languishing near the foot of the Bundesliga.

The Sporting director of Borussia Dortmund says the player is not for sale but ultimately Reus could decide to move on, particularly with other high-profile Dortmund players linked with moves away such as Hummels and Gundogan. Even the manager Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to replace Rodgers at Liverpool should the management situation change at the Anfield club.

The report goes on to suggest that Reus himself was interested in talking to City and that he wants to be playing at the highest level and that it was understand that enquires had already been made over his availability by City.

The capture of Reus would certainly be a huge coup for Manchester City considering he is one of the most in-demand players around.
