Chelsea set to lure Arsenal star with mega payrise

Arsenal appear to be on a bit of a roll after completing the opening Champions League group stage top of their group and unbeaten for the first time since they last reached the final but cracks are already appearing according to reports.

The Gunners policy of having a relatively low salary structure compared to their rivals could backfire with one of their biggest stars Alexis Sanchez already linked with a move to China with just 18 months left on his contract. Talks have stalled on a new deal says a report in the Telegraph who go on to suggest the player could go to China with a massive £400,000-a-week salary, dwarfing his current modest £130,000.

The 27-year-old is in the form of his life and he may well be tempted to cash in on his undoubted quality at a club that could offer him more. The report suggests that Sanchez does not want to go to China but does want parity with some of the Premier League's big names and is not alone.

Mesut Ozil, the club's highest earning player is also stalling on signing a new deal and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal change their policy to ensure they keep hold of their best players, especially given the impact they are both having on Arsenal's prospects domestically and in the Champions League.

Chelsea now appear to have moved to offer Sanchez an alternative to China and form a 'dream' attack with Costa. Wenger has appealed to the players to lower their wage demands and not let money decide their futures with some sources claiming the players want £20million-a-year to stay.

The Chile international joined Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014 for £31.7million where he has gone on to make 79 league appearances, scoring an impressive 40 goals.
