Championship Fans' Player of the Month: Jamie Vardy - Leicester

Jamie Vardy has chosen the perfect time to produce his best form of the season as league leaders Leicester close in on the Championship title – and his manager reckons there’s still more to come from the striker who has been crowned PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for February.

There’s no stopping the table-topping Foxes who went through last month unbeaten – two wins and two draws – with 27-year-old Vardy, a £1million signing from Fleetwood in 2012, now having 13 goals for the season to his name.

Much to the delight of Leicester boss Nigel Pearson who has been impressed with Vardy’s contribution and his blossoming partnership with 17-goal striker David Nugent. "There will be more to come from Vardy, no doubt about it," said Pearson.

"If you look at the goal that he scored against Ipswich, it was a terrific finish. I don't know if people appreciate how tough that is to put the ball in from the angle that he had. Certainly, moving at the pace that he did, it was a terrific goal and it really epitomised what he has done this season."

Vardy’s performances have limited the playing time of club colleague Chris Wood recently, but the New Zealand international has no complaints and is full of praise for the Foxes’ in-form striker who has even put leading scorer David Nugent in the shade.

"He has come on leaps and bounds. His work rate is up there every single game no matter what - if he is having a good game or bad game, he works hard and that is what we all like to see,” said Wood.
