Cardiff caretakers set for home bow

Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon are set to make their home debuts in the dugout when Cardiff face Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup.

The Bluebirds' cult heroes, currently in caretaker charge, managed Cardiff for the first time in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Derby and will be handed the reins once more as the club's hierarchy continue to search for a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Winger Craig Noone made his first appearance of the season at Pride Park and looks likely to be given the chance to build up his match fitness once more but he could be joined in the starting line-up by plenty of recalled players for the clash.

The likes of Adam Le Fondre, Nicky Maynard, Declan John and Magnus Eikrem will all hope to feature.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe will be without Andrew Surman when they make the trip.

The midfielder featured for Norwich earlier in this season's competition and is cup-tied. Dan Gosling could step into the starting line-up in his place if he passes a fitness test on a twisted ankle he suffered last week.

Welshman Shaun MacDonald has been unavailable in recent weeks due to a hip problem but he could be handed the chance to get some minutes under his belt while South African striker Tokelo Rantie, who has missed out since playing for his country, will also be assessed.

This will be the first meeting between the sides since 2008 when two goals from Paul Parry saw Cardiff win 2-1 in this competition on the south coast.
