Cardiff City Make Offer for Premier League Player

Championship side Cardiff City have made a bid to sign Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi on a season-long loan.

Ameobi only managed two goals and two assists in 25 for Newcastle last season in all competition and featured sporadically under former boss John Carver. The England under-21 international is out on contract on the 1st July but is expected to sign a new contract according to Wales Online.

Cardiff manager Russell Slade is reportedly looking at bringing in three new additions to the side with a pacey winger, a strong holding midfielder and a right-back to contend with Lee Peltier looking to be top o the shopping list.

This season has been a disappointing season for the both the club and fans alike in the Welsh capital. A lack of creativity, among other things, lead to a goal drought of a season and left the Bluebirds in mid-table mediocrity.

Craig Noone had a poor end to the season in comparison to his consistent performances, especially in the Premier League, only managing a single goal. Despite this Noone was the subject to a £2 million bid in January from Norwich City and the Canaries reportedly haven't cooled their interest.

Republic of Ireland international Anthony was signed by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer twelve months ago but was clearly an important part of Russell Slade's plans when he first joined the Bluebirds. However he also only managed one goal this season after suffering a serious injury just after Slade's appointment, only making his comeback within the last five games of the season. He's fully fit after pre-season now though so a comeback to the starting XI is likely.

Cardiff's further two wingers, Matthew Kennedy and Kadeem Harris, are both capable at a Championship level but there goal and assist return is also poor so it is understandable why Slade wants to bring in a new face on the flanks.
