Debutant Mason Bennett helps League One leaders Burton ease past Bradford

Burton extended their lead at the top of Sky Bet League One with a comfortable 3-1 win over Bradford.

Derby loanee Mason Bennett scored on his full debut and victory for Nigel Clough's men was sealed by second-half goals from Tom Naylor and Mark Duffy.

Burton could have been in front early on but Lucas Akins skied a gilt-edged chance, before Duffy was denied by City keeper Ben Williams.

The hosts had to wait only until the 17th minute for the opener, with former Bradford loanee Bennett's 12-yard shot deflected past Williams.

James Hanson could have levelled 10 minutes later but steered his angled shot wide.

After the break, Hanson had a header comfortably saved and saw another loop over the crossbar before Burton tightened their grip.

Naylor met Damien McCrory's cross with a first-time shot that bounced in off the underside of the bar in the 73rd minute.

Four minutes later, Duffy was on hand to turn home Stuart Beavon's cross.

Rory McArdle headed a consolation goal for Bradford from Tony McMahon's corner in added time.
