Mark Duffy double keeps Burton on course for title

Burton stayed on course for the Sky Bet League One title with a 2-1 victory at home to 10-man Fleetwood.

Mark Duffy put Nigel Clough's side in front and completed a superb double after Wes Burns came off the bench to level for the visitors with his first touch.

Fleetwood's hopes salvaging a point took a big knock in the 67th minute when substitute Bobby Grant was sent off after only a minute on the pitch.

Burton turned their domination into a deserved lead in the 26th minute, Duffy fastening onto a Lucas Akins cross to drill a 15-yard shot past Chris Maxwell.

The hosts were caught cold two minutes after the break when Amari'i Bell's cross was driven home by the unmarked Burns.

Maxwell kept the scores level with a full-length save to deny Hamza Choudhury, but the keeper was comprehensively beaten in the 63rd minute when Duffy cut inside and brilliantly curled a right-footed shot into the far corner of the net from 20 yards.

The Cod Army were quickly reduced to 10 men when Grant was red carded for taking a kick at the grounded Akins.
