Rovers welcome back Ollie Clarke but lose Stuart Sinclair for Chesterfield visit

Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke could be set to make a number of changes to his side for the visit of Sky Bet League One strugglers Chesterfield.

Midfielder Stuart Sinclair is definitely missing as he serves a one-match ban after being sent off for two dives in the 3-0 midweek defeat to Bury, and his place could go to Ollie Clarke who is available after completing his own suspension.

In defence, it remains to be seen if defender James Clarke will be fit to feature. The 27-year-old fell ill during the Bury defeat with what manager Clarke described as a "life-threatening" allergic reaction and he spent the night in hospital before returning to Bristol the following day.

If he is ruled out then Chelsea loanee Jake Clarke-Salter - who replaced him on Tuesday - or Dan Leadbitter could take his place. Striker Rory Gaffney and winger Cristian Montano are also pushing for starts.

Full-back Paul McGinn could make a long-awaited return to the Chesterfield squad.

The summer signing has not played for the first team since October due to hamstring problems but he has resumed training.

Ched Evans is making progress in his recovery from an ankle issue and the striker is set to undergo another round of injections that the club hope will see him return to action this month.

Ian Evatt's knee injury does not appear as bad as initially feared but the centre-half will remain on the sidelines for the foreseeable future as the Spireites battle to stay in League One.
