Brechin eyeing second scalp

Brechin look to defeat a Championship side for the second week running when Dumbarton visit Glebe Park in the Scottish Communities League Cup.

Defender Darren McCormack is the only injury doubt for the Angus men.

Ray McKinnon's side saw off Cowdenbeath 3-1 last Saturday in the Petrofac Training Cup and the Brechin boss knows what his men have to do to make it two in a row.

McKinnon said: "We did well at Cowdenbeath, however, we need to play even better to beat Dumbarton.

"They have just had a terrific season and have strengthened their squad with experienced players so we need to be at our best to compete with them."

The visitors are missing goalkeeper Jamie Ewings, who has an ankle injury, however Danny Rogers is available after a loan deal was agreed with Aberdeen.

Summer signing Lee Mair is in line for his debut, but Mark McLaughlin is unlikely to be risked after a thigh strain.

Sons boss Ian Murray is looking for better from his side after going down 3-2 to Stranraer last weekend.

Murray said: "Brechin will be thinking that if they can beat Cowdenbeath then they can beat us especially as we lost to Stranraer.

"We have to put that result behind us and look to progress at Glebe Park."
