Trotter poised for comeback

Neil Lennon hopes to have Joe Mason and Liam Trotter available for his first home match in charge when Bolton entertain Brentford.

Midfielder Trotter has not played since August because of a hamstring ailment, while the same problem has also been troubling on-loan forward Mason, but the two trained as normal on Wednesday.

Mark Davies' persistent knee troubles are another cause for concern but Lennon is confident the midfielder will also train ahead of the contest at the Macron Stadium.

Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan (fingers) and central defender David Wheater (back) are edging closer to a return but full-back Marc Tierney (broken foot) will remain absent for a little while longer.

James Tarkowski returns to the Brentford squad after suspension.

The centre-half missed Tuesday's goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday after collecting five yellow cards this season, but he may have to settle for a place on the bench if boss Mark Warburton sticks with Harlee Dean alongside Tony Craig.

Winger Stuart Dallas (thigh) and midfielder Tommy Smith (knee) are pushing to return from recent spells on the sidelines.

Sam Saunders is also back in training having been out since January with a knee problem, but the popular winger remains some way from a return to action.
