Shrewsbury hold on to clinch much-needed victory over Blackpool

Shrewsbury ended a three-match winless run in Sky Bet League One as they clung onto a 3-2 victory at Blackpool.

The visitors took the lead after just five minutes when Nathaniel Knight-Percival scored with a brilliant overhead kick from 10 yards.

And they doubled their lead two minutes later when Shaun Whalley capitalised on chaotic defending to finish from eight yards.

It was three inside half an hour when the ball broke to Andy Mangan just inside the area who blasted home right-footed.

Blackpool pulled one back after 36 minutes through Tom Aldred, who drove the ball into the top corner from 15 yards following a free-kick.

The hosts had a great chance after 52 minutes but Danny Philliskirk's volley from eight yards was beaten away by Jayson Leutwiler.

But he did notch two minutes later, brilliantly controlling Jim McAlister's pass before firing the ball low into the far corner.

The Seasiders almost equalised on 78 minutes, but Brad Potts' effort was pushed onto the bar by Leutwiler who then blocked from Jack Redshaw.
