West Brom have completed the signing of Hull's James Chester in a deal worth up to £8million.
The defender has signed a four-year contract at The Hawthorns after completing a medical on Tuesday.
The deal could rise to £8million should all the clauses in the transfer be triggered while Chester is an Albion player.
Boss Tony Pulis told the club's official site: "James did very well for Hull City. I've had a good chat with him and he's the type of player I like.
"He's young, a strong character, a good defender, he has good feet and he has the Manchester United stamp all over him, just like (Stoke's) Ryan Shawcross and (West Brom's) Darren Fletcher. They're wonderful lads and I'm told James is as well.
"From the people I spoke to, like (Hull manager) Steve Bruce and people in the Welsh party, they speak very highly of him.
"Steve especially gave him a great mention and there is no better accolade than Steve Bruce giving a defender a good drum roll."
Chester made 171 appearances for Hull - scoring eight times - after signing from Manchester United in 2011 and made his Wales debut in 2014, in a 2-0 defeat to Holland.
The 26-year-old made just one appearance while at Old Trafford, as a substitute in a 4-2 League Cup win over Derby in 2009.
He had one year left on his deal at the KC Stadium, with Hull cashing in following their relegation from the Barclays Premier League last season.
Pulis, who missed out on ex-Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby this week, expects to continue to add to his squad with the club in talks with ex-Wolves winger Bakary Sako.
"We're trying to bring in others, but they have to be the right players," he added.
"We're very pleased to have James on board and hopefully we can work hard to get more in."
