Baggies' McManaman bid rejected

West Brom have had a bid rejected for Wigan's Callum McManaman.

Head coach Tony Pulis is chasing his first signing for the club but has seen a bid, reported to be £4million, turned down.

Press Association Sport understands they are expected to return with a second offer for the winger, who has scored five goals in 22 games for the Sky Bet Championship strugglers.

Pulis is trying to shake up his squad after replacing Alan Irvine last month and has made the first move to bring McManaman, 23, to the Hawthorns.

His interest in Manchester United's Darren Fletcher remains ongoing with the Baggies optimistic of signing the 30-year-old Scotland international, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

But Albion are not interested in Elche striker Jonathas, who is on loan from Italian club Pescara.

The Baggies did check out the 25-year-old, who has scored seven goals for the Spanish side, but opted against pursuing their interest.

Pulis wants to reshape the squad this month and has offered no guarantee that £10million record signing Brown Ideye had a Baggies future after struggling to adapt since his summer move.

Saido Berahino, who has scored 14 goals in 25 games, has also been linked with a move away but the Baggies have not received any offers.

Albion go to Everton on Monday just two points above the Barclays Premier League drop zone, although they are only a point behind their 13th-placed hosts.
