Arsenal suffer setback in pursuit of Marco Reus

Arsenal have been consistently linked with the Borussia Dortmund star with Arsene Wenger being keen to push through a deal say reports but now it seems their resolve could be tested.

There were rumours that Reus would be open to leave the club should Jurgen Klopp depart and it seems now that that rumour will be tested.

The report in the Express via AS reports that Real Madrid have made a £25million bid for the versatile 25-year-old midfielder/striker which just happens to be the same amount as stated in his release clause.

Reus is contracted to stay with Dortmund until 2019 but the report suggests the player could leave with the right offer.

Like other Dortmund stars, Reus has been dogged by a number of injuries this season but has still managed a total of 24 appearances and 11 goals this term.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool were all thought to be interested in signing the player but with Real Madrid testing the waters they may need to move fast.
