To show how serious Arsenal are to tempt a world class forward to the Emirates they are prepared to double a players salary. Arsenal look a decent proposition for top talent with Champions League football and a growing roster of international stars so it is no surprise these days to see them linked with big names rather than prospects.

Today sees Arsenal strongly linked with the transfer of Alvaro Morata, the young Real Madrid striker who was sold to Juventus for 20million euros with the option to buy the player back. The 23-year-old Spaniard made 93 appearances for Juventus, scoring 27 goals before signing a contract extension which would have kept the player at the club until 2020. If rumours prove to be correct, Real Madrid, seeing the players value rise Real Madrid chose to trigger the buy back clause with the intention of immediately selling the player on.

The Mirror claim that Real are likely to sell the player on for a huge profit on their £23m investment with Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League seriously interested in his services. According to AS, Arsenal are looking to tempt the player with a £144k-a-week salary, double his current earnings.

You would expect Arsenal to be favourites with the bonus of Champions League football but Chelsea could offer Real a route to Eden Hazard if they sell them Morata.
