Arsenal fans not impressed, but not surprised!

Arsene Wenger’s failure to capture a single big name this summer is proving to be a major frustration for the fans of Arsenal Football Club.

Last week it was reported that the deal involving Gonzalo Higuain had effectively been clinched, but clearly this is not true, as Arsenal have made no announcements and to make matters worse the La Liga’s top football pundit, Guillem Balague, tweeted that the Turin giants Juventus were locked in a two-way battle for the Argentine’s signature.

So, with all the early enthusiasm, which saw players like Higuain, Rooney and Fellaini linked with a move to the Emirates, it seems to have been a load of hot air, as not a single big signing has happened. I have worked it out that since the end of last season the money burning a hole in Arsene’s pocket has already grown by some half a million quid.

Interestingly, I did see Ivan Gazidis going for a summer stroll in Leicester Square a few days ago and he had this smug content look on his face. Maybe he knows something that we don’t? Who knows?

Arsenal Football Club has a window of opportunity in the season ahead of them where, at the very least, they should net their first trophy since May 2005. If they play their cards right and get that little bit of ‘rub of the green’ who knows we could be looking next season’s Premier League Champions – but for any of this happen Arsene has to get his cheque-book out otherwise Spurs will surely over-take them as North London’s finest club.
