Are Liverpool actually interested in Ezequiel Lavezzi?

Both Spanish newspapers Marca & AS have linked Liverpool with PSG midfielder Ezequiel Lavezzi since yesterday afternoon highlighting PSG's need to offload Ezequiel Lavezzi (amongst others), to ensure their £63m offer for Angel Di Maria doesn't exceed Financial Fair Play regulations.

After being left off the Parisian clubs promotional material for next season rumours have obviously grown as have the names being linked to the player.

Liverpool have frequently been linked with a bid for the Argentine striker since back in the days of Rafa Benitez when Lavezzi was in fact at the club now managed by Benitez (Napoli).

With the reds pulling the plug in the last seconds to sign QPR forward Loic Remy this has will only add fuel to the fierce speculation surrounding a possible bid for Lavezzi's services.

The Argentinian is now at his peak in terms of age and at 29 he bagged 12 goals and 7 assists last year but he's used to big-time competitions and knows how to play with a quality striker after working with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG.

He is a versatile player that can operate across the front 3 positions and that is a known trait Brendan Rodgers looks for when signing players.

For £18m though there are similar players that can offer similar stats to Lavezzi as being more youthful and we know that FSG like to sign young players that can be made into superstars.

In my opinion Liverpool would be better off looking at Lavezzi's team mate Lucas Moura who's had an indifferent start to life in European football.

He provided fewer goals but created a massive 18 assists last year and being 8 years younger that Lavezzi would represent a better investment in the long term.
