Arda Turan the new target for Rodgers as Liverpool spend Suarez cash

Reports coming out of Eurosport Turkey and via the Mirror indicates heightened activity from Liverpool as they look to clinch crucial deals. The Reds have made several signings already including Lambert and Lallana but the squad will need far greater strength in depth to cope with the Champions League.

One area that has weakened with the departure of Suarez is the left wing which is why Brendan Rodgers is particularly interested in the services of Arda Turan of Atletico Madrid. The 27-year-old is reported to be interested in a move to England but his whopping 40 million Euro release clause is quite a barrier to that move. His previous clause of a more realistic 27 million increased dramatically when the winger signed a new contract last summer.

Atletico themselves are looking to sign Santi Cazorla from Arsenal despite the Spaniard ending speculation about his future by stating he is happy at Arsenal. This would mean Atletico would have to either look further afield or keep hold of Turan.

The Turkish international had spent six years at Galatasaray before moving to Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a fee of 12m euros which made him the most expensive Turkish player ever. Arda won the La Liga with Atletico as well as the Europa League, Super Cup and Copa del Rey with the new Spanish champions.
