Murray rescues point for Arbroath

Simon Murray's first goal of the year rescued a point for free-falling Arbroath as they drew 1-1 against Annan.

The Smokies are without a win in 15 games and struggled early on before Kenneth Mackay put the visitors ahead, but Murray's first goal since December ensured the spoils were shared.

Annan should have taken the lead earlier after dominating the first half, Stuart McColm and Mackay had good chances, with the former hitting a post after half an hour.

Robert Linn had a header saved early in the second half before Mackay finally broke the deadlock, racing clear and poking the ball under the onrushing Marc McCallum to give Annan the lead.

However, Murray found space inside the area and dispatched the ball into the bottom corner to pull Arbroath level and leave Annan still struggling to make the play-offs.
