Rovers make it four in a row

Albion Rovers extended their lead at the top of the Scottish League Two table to four points with a 2-0 victory against Arbroath at Gayfield.

Alistair Love and Gary Fisher scored the goals to give Darren Young's side a fourth straight win and put a severe dent in the Red Lichties title hopes.

Arbroath have gone off the boil of late and just one success in the last 11 league games now leaves them eight points behind Rovers.

The visitors went ahead after only four minutes when Love lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Marc McCallum.

Robert Linn came close to an equaliser shortly before half-time but his effort was cleared off the line by a defender.

Fisher slotted home the second goal in the 65th minute to give Rovers victory and a four-point lead over second-placed Queen's Park.

Simon Murray nearly got a goal back for the hosts late on but his shot whistled narrowly wide.
