Stirling effort not enough

A dramatic late fightback by East Stirling could not prevent them from losing 4-3 to Annan.

Despite trailing 4-1 with five minutes to go, two late goals threatened to steal a point for the visitors but the late pressure was not enough as Annan clung on.

The home side went ahead in the second minute as Peter Weatherson fired into the bottom corner before David Hopkirk's cross flew over the head of Richard Bernard in the Stirling goal to make it 2-0.

Neil McCabe pulled one back with a stunning volley into the the top corner from the edge of the area before Weatherson restored the cushion 10 minutes later.

Matt Flynn looked to have sealed a comfortable win when he finished smartly from a tight angle with 13 minutes to go but David McKenna and Paul Brennan made it a nervy finish as Stirling fell just short.
