Weatherston out for Alloa

Alloa host neighbours Stirling in the Scottish Communities League Cup and they will be missing striker David Weatherston due to an ankle injury.

Eddie Ferns is also absent because of a knee problem, with manager Barry Smith telling his men that they will need to scrap to get through.

Smith said: "This game will have an edge to it and Stirling will be really keen to put one over us as we are in the higher league.

"They have brought in good strikers but I believe that we have players that can hurt them.

"We won well at Arbroath last weekend and it would be nice to do that at home."

Stirling include former Wasp Willie Robertson after he agreed a short-term deal with the Forthbank men and looks set to start as up to six players could be missing.

Injuries definitely rule out Ross McGeachie (foot), Darren Smith (calf), David McClune (calf) and Graham Weir (heel), with both Ross Forsyth and Sandy Cunningham facing fitness tests.

Manager Greig McDonald said: "Both sides had good results last weekend, however we are pretty big underdogs for this one especially as we have a weakened squad.

"The upside is that there is no pressure on us and we can go out and attack Alloa and see where that takes us."
