Alex Song Keen On A Move To Liverpool With Manchester United Also Interested

The former Arsenal midfielder joined West Ham in the summer after a rather disappointing spell at Barcelona in which he could hardly make the bench for most of his time there. Since then he has gone from strength to strength propelling what seemed to be the West Ham juggernaut with pace and tenacity. His retirement from international football also enabled him to continuously perform well for the Hammers.

Liverpool have expressed some interest in the tenacious midfielder according to The Mirror which would be quite a good move considering that Steven Gerrard is on his way out and Lucas is really not a great fit in the holding midfield position.

The 27 year old Cameroonian also believes he could be wearing Liverpool red next season if he consistently plays well till the end of the season. The move if it does indeed come into fruition will be relatively simple considering that he is only in London on a season long loan and Barcelona will probably not need him given the wealth of talent and resources at the Nou Camp.

Manchester United are also thought to be in the race for the signature as they too have had some midfield deficiencies this season. Alex Song would be a near perfect fit in the defensive midfield position and even going forward as he has a 76% pass accuracy in the Premier League this season.

It should not be forgotten that West Ham United will also be interested in signing Song on a permanent basis and will not be fazed too much by a bidding war should it come to that. However it does seem as if Song will be at Anfield next season as that seems to be his preferred destination.
