Sport.co.uk can confirm that Inter Milan defender Davide Santon could be available during the January transfer window with the player and his representative waiting for new manager Leonardo to make a decision on his future.
The talented youngster has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, while the player’s former boss Jose Mourinho could also swoop to bring the 19-year-old to Real Madrid.
Once earmarked as the long-term successor to Paulo Maldini for the Italian national side, the precocious youngster’s career has faltered under Rafa Benitez, with the player’s representative informing us that any possible transfer relies upon a meeting with new Inter Milan manager Leonardo.
“At the moment we are waiting for Inter Milan to decide on the future of Davide (Santon).” Renzo Contratto told Sport.co.uk.
“He must speak with the new coach Leonardo. They will talk and we are waiting for the next few games. If Davide is playing, then ok, he will stay.
“But if he isn’t picked, we will try and find a solution for him. Davide is very young, so many clubs are interested but we must pick the best economic situation for him.
“There is interest from the Premier League, which is fantastic because in my opinion it is the best league in the world. If a big club is interested in Davide, then I think this would be a good solution for him.”
