Next to take a sip from Sport.co.uk’s gilded goblet of giggles is Susan Harrison, who this month brings her Creatures sketch show to Space @ Jury’s Inn on the Royal Mile...

Do you have any allegiances to any sporting team in particular or do you just ignore it all?

I now support the Warrnambool Mermaids. One for the basketball fans. And the New York Giants. See my show and you’ll know why.

Are there any sports which you particularly hate? If so, why?

High jump and long jump. Both are unfair for Lilliputian people such as me.

Have you ever played any sports yourself? If so, what were your experiences of it?

I was Wing Attack in Netball at school for a term. Well, not the main Wing Attack, more like the Understudy. That’s the technical term, right?

Did you take any interest in the World Cup?

I took an interest was when I lived in Dundee in 2002. I’m English so was briefly hated, which was fair enough. Me and the two other English people at work would have clandestine gatherings to watch it.

If you could invent your own sport, what would it entail?

Low jump and short jump.

What have been your best and worst experiences of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival?

Best experience: Going to a show called Etiquette in which the audience (of two) wear headphones and speak the text. I guess you had to be there...

Worst experience: Sweating like crazy in a sweaty Gilded Balloon venue in 2007 full of sweaty audience members.

Which is your favourite Fringe venue? And why?

Space on the Mile. It has air conditioning! And lifts that work! And cheaper tickets! I also really like The Stand.

What's the best watering hole in Edinburgh? And the best place for a bite to eat?

The best place to drink and escape the festival for a bit would be the top of Arthur’s seat with a chilled bottle of rose. Well it’s actually more likely to be a warm can of Heineken but you get my point.  Best place to eat is City Café on Blair Street. Nothing like a big ole Scottish fry up in a busy, friendly café.

What's the strangest thing you’ve ever seen at the Festival?

Men walking over mouse traps: a truly great show.

What's the best heckle you’ve ever heard?

The best ones are heckles you can at least hear. The worst are mumbles. It’s challenging to put down a mumble.

Are there any other acts you look forward to seeing during the Festival?

Stewart Lee, Bridget Christie, Daniel Kitson.

Who is the Lionel Messi of comedy (ie modern day great)? And who is the Pele of comedy (ie all time great)?

My modern day great is the sketch group We Are Klang - messy, ridiculous and absolutely hilarious live - and my all time great is Chris Morris: a complete comedy genius.

Can you tell us anything about your Edinburgh show and where/when we can see you?

My show is called Creatures. It’s a surreal character sketch comedy set at an Annual Creatures Meeting (ACM). Guest speakers include a mermaid with dementia and a drug addicted Borrower. I’m also having cameos from different comedians every night which is exciting/frightening (delete as applicable). It’s on at Space on the Mile, Jury’s Inn at 10.05pm (9.05pm in the last week) and tickets are a mere £6/5.
