London swings again

If you are stuck for what you are going to do for Fathers Day this year and want to give a little bit more than a bottle of wine and a subscription to Golf Monthly, Sport.co.uk recommends taking the old man for a swift round at Pebble Beach followed by a few beers and dinner. Easier said then done given the current credit crunch I hear you say, but did you know you can do all this in the middle of Soho, London for just £15 an hour at Urban Golf.

Revolutionary Concept

The unique golfing experience allows golf nuts to play a host of world class courses including St Andrews, Pebble Beach and Valderrama during their lunch hour. It works by players striking the ball towards a projected image of their chosen course with technologically advanced infared pulses that measure the speed and spin of the ball, calculating exactly where your shot would land on the in-front screen. The innovative experience was invented by the former Head Proffesional at the highly regarded Stoke Park Golf Club, Jamie Day.

Day came up with the idea in the nineteenth hole after talking to members about their desire to have a location in London where they could hit a few balls and keep their game in good order.  You can tee off with as many as eight friends, and enjoy a variety of alcoholic and food refreshments along the way.  (Useful if you send one out of bounds on the first tee.) And, unlike the great outdoors, you don't have to leave the clubhouse, and it is genuine value for money, at £15 an hour.

Eye-caddies please

The round of golf is realistic and extremely addictive. Whether you are off scratch or 28 you are guarenteed to walk away having had a worthwhile experience. The longest drive and closest to pin competitions are a great way to get you started, and you'll see your competitive streak come out straight away. Just don't push it too far, I just signed up for six weeks physio, but it was worth it, longest drive of 305 yards thankyou very much. And remember, golf proffesionals with computer analysis of your swing are on hand to help you improve your game, so take advantage! The only word of advice I gave on my exit, was that the cherry on the sundae would be some delectable caddies to watch your ball for you. But as the barman said, 'You can get that round the corner!'

D-Day treat

It is a unique D-Day present for the big man, a few beers and a round on one of the world Championship courses at a credit crunching £15 is an absolute winner. Plus, you can always play skins, and make your money back. Trust me, the Sport.co.uk team are still yet to pay, but they will, oh yes they will!

'A really great venue and staff were extremely helpful. Didn't exactly tear up Valderama but I'm sure I will have more luck next time when I take on Pebble Beach. Top night would recommend to any golf fan!'
