Valverde UCI World Tour Champion

Movistar's Alejandro Valverde is the UCI World Tour champion.

Valverde takes the title with the Tour Of Beijing still to go but as Alberto Contador will not compete in that race after crashing in the Giro Il Lombardia, the Movistar rider has been named the champion.

Valverde, has amassed 686 points this season, some sixty six ahead of the Tinkoff Saxo rider Alberto Contador.

Third is Orica GreenEdge's Simon Gerrans with 478 points, followed by Rui Costa of Lampre on 398 points and Vincenzo Nibali, the 2014 Tour De France winner with 392 points.

Chris Froome is the top British rider with 326 points, Mark Cavendish is 55th with 92 points, Ben Swift is 56th with 91 points, Adam Yates is 87th with 44 points, Sir Bradley Wiggins is 126th with 12 points, Steve Cummings is 206th with two points, Andy Fenn is 212th with two points,

Ireland's Dan Martin is 20th with 229 points and Nicholas Roche is 189th with 3 points.
