Tour De Romandie Stage Win For Viviani

Team Sky's Elia Viviani took the win on Friday's stage of the Tour De Romandie.


The fourth day of racing saw the stage was a 187km stage which started and finished in Payerne and had Fabio Felline again in the leader’s jersey.

The first break came after twelve kilometres and included Davide Martinelli (Quick-Step Floors), Lukas Postlberger (Bora-Hansgrohe), Toms Skujins (Cannondale-Drapac), Victor Campenaerts (LottoNL-Jumbo), Thomas De Gendt (Lotto Soudal), Hugo Houle (AG2R-La Mondiale) and Nikita Stalnov (Astana).

They took a three-minute gap with De Gendt taking the points on the first two climbs before Stainov was shelled out of the break with 62kms left.

The break was ended with 36kms to go and six kilometres later, Simon Clarke (Cannondale-Drapac) attacked with Sebastien Reichenbach (FDJ), Arnaud Courteille (FDJ) and Tosh Van der Sande (Lotto Soudal attacked on for Bob Jungels to come up and end the break.

British rider Alex Dowsett tried to get away, taking a thirty second lead before he was caught with three kilometres to go.

Bora-Hansgrohe lead out the sprint but they were passed by Team Sky’s Elia Viviani who took the win in 4.27.42 ahead of Sonny Colbrelli of Bahrain-Merida and Michael Schwarzmann of Bora-Hansgrohe.

Fabio Feline continues to lead the race by eight seconds.
