Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome have paid tribute to those involved in the tragic events in London on Wednesday.
The riders heard the news which saw five dead and over twenty injured on the team bus coming back from the second stage of the Volta a Catalunya and Geraint Thomas told Team Sky.com: “We found out about it on the bus when we were travelling back from the stage. Everyone on the team knows London or has raced there and obviously it’s terrible news to hear.
“One thing that stood out from the reports were the stories about people coming together to help the police and the emergency services. It’s just so sad and obviously all our thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected.
Chris Froome said: “It really hits home when something like this happens somewhere you know well and you think about things like the Ride London event last year, which was such a happy and vibrant day.
“Our thoughts and best wishes go out to all of those involved.”
