Soren Kragh Andersen Takes Over Tour Des Fjords Lead

Soren Kragh Andersen has won the Fourth Stage of the Tour Des Fjords in Norway.

Katusha's Alexander Kristoff had a twenty second lead in the race thanks to his three successive victories in the first three stages of this five stage race.

Stage four was a 175km stage from Stavanger to Sandnes and included four laps of a circuit in Sandnes and a steep 900m hill where the race could be decided.

Darryl Impey, who was second on GC, took the sprints at the first sprint checkpoint of the day and before a group of Brutt, Didier, van Poppel, Edvald Boasson-Hagen, Quaade and Helven formed.

Didier dropped back to help the break get away but it was not to last and Howson, Devolder, van Zandbeek and Meijers, who took the second sprint after thirty kilometres, got clear and were able to gain a 4.20 advantage.

Howson took the third sprint but they were all together as they started on the climb up Seldalsbakken. Amets Txurruka took the KOM points before a new break of Meier, Guldhammer, Eidsheim, Teodorsen, Haller, Anker Sørensen, August Jensen, Madrazo, S Kragh Anderssen, M Olsson, Wetherhall and Rabo formed.

M Pedersen attacked the break which had a two minute lead with sixteen kilometres left to go.

The break split and Guldhammer, Olsson, Anker Sørensen and Txurruka formed a new one with Søren Kragh Andersen bridging.

Søren Kragh Andersen shot off with 4.5kms left and he was not to be caught and he rode away to win in 4.03.27, a second ahead of Amets Txurruka who finished a second down and take an eight second lead into the final stage.
