Rohan Dennis Wins The US Pro Tour Challenge

Rohan Dennis of BMC has won the US Pro Tour Challenge in America.

The Australian took a forty four second lead over his team mate Brent Bookwalter going into the seventh and final 110km stage from Golden to Denver.

With just under 100 kilometres to go, Chris Anker Sörensen (Tinkoff-Saxo), Jamie Roson (Caja Rural), Samuel Spokes (Drapac Professional), Alexandr Braico (Jelly Belly), Gregory Daniel (Axeon), and Janier Acevedo (Cannondale-Garmin).formed a break.

Sam Spokes took the climb of Lookout Mountain after 24.2kms before Acevedo has a problem with his chain and dropped out of the break. With the City of Denver in view, of which there was four laps to complete, Greg Daniel put in an attack but Roson and Sorenson joined him and it was Sorenson who took the sprint point.

The five came back together but Daniel attacked again, followed by Sorensen.

The duo stayed away until there was 13.5kms kilometres left. Calvin Watson then tried to attack but was soon caught.

Rohan Dennis took a turn on the front and but was caught was a kilometre to go.

BMC still had numbers up there and they tried to set up Taylor Phinney but it was John Murphy of UnitedHealthCare who won the stage in 2.20.03 ahead of Phinney, Haedo, McCabe and Silvestre.

Rohan Dennis of BMC finished safely to win the race overall.
