Pelucchi Takes Tour Of Poland Stage Two Win

Matteo Pelucchi of IAM Cycling has won the Tour Of Poland second stage.

Marcel Kittel of Giant Alpecin, who sprinted to victory in Poland, was the leader for a second stage which started in Częstochowa and ended in Dąbrowa Górnicza with five finishing laps of ten kilometers which made up a 146km course.

Adrian Kurek of CC, Kamil Gradek, Sander Armee, Martin Keizer and Marcus Burghardt went straight on the attack and formed a break which was 1.50 ahead on a day where temperatures were around thirty one degrees.

David De La Cruz was forced to abandon the race after a crash before Kamil Gradek took 1st Lotto Sprint Prime in Siewierz with Kurek.

in the KOM jersey, taking the first climb in Dąbrowa Górnicza, and after Burghardt had dropped back to the peloton ,with 45.3kms left, this group of four were 1.11 ahead.

With twenty one kilometres to go, the peloton had reduced the lead of the quartet to 31 seconds as speeds were around the 58kmh mark.

The quartet were caught with 13.2kms and the big teams including Astana, Tinkoff Saxo and Orica GreenEdge were on the front when the bell tolled for the final lap.

Astana took on the front running duties with six kilometres left and they were still handily placed as the peloton went under the flam rouge.

Lampre went for it just as there was a massive crash which started when Caleb Ewen was taken out by Modolo and there was only a handful left to take the sprint which was won by Matteo Pelucchi of IAM Cycling in 3.20.12 ahead of Kittel and Nizzolo, Boeckmans and Modolo.

The second place for Marcel Kittel ensures that he stays in the leader's yellow jersey.
