No Geraint Thomas For British Championships

24 June 2015 09:51

Geraint Thomas is out of the British National Championships.

The Welshman was due to ride in the time trial at Cadwell Park on Thursday and the men's road race on Sunday around Lincoln.

However, the name of the Team Sky rider has been removed by British Cycling from the lists of competing riders for both competitions.

Thomas, is expected to play a major role for Team Sky in the Tour De France and he may have been withdrawn as part of his preparations for the Grand Boucle, after a pretty gruelling Tour De Suisse in which he finished second.

Team Sky, who have not given a reason for Thomas' withdrawal, will still be represented with the current British mens road race champion Peter Kennaugh taking part along with Ian Stannard who won in 2012, along with Andy Fenn and Luke Rowe.
