Laura Trott claimed a dominant victory in the omnium at the opening round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Cali.

The double Olympic champion led by 10 points going into Sunday's final three events and third place in the time trial and second in the flying lap extended that advantage to 36 over France's Laurie Berthon in the points race.

Trott underlined her superiority by winning a lap and five more points in the sprints to finish on 213 points, 53 clear of Berthon.

The 23-year-old said: "We didn't want to take anything for granted, I'm here to learn."
