Omar Fraile took victory in the Giro Del Appennino in Italy.

This 191.7km race from Novi Ligure to Genova saw nine riders in a break of 3.40 after sixty kilometres.

After Rodolfo Torres of the Colombia team crashed and had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance, Andreetta, Madrazo, Frapporti, Mosca, Cecchinel, Rybakov, Pedretti, Sokolov and Praxmayer had a lead of 2.10 with sixty kilometres left.

That lead was not to last and with twenty five kilometres left, the situation was that Cunego and Zardini were leading with, Pirazzi, Pellizotti, Petilli, Txurruka and Bongiorno chasing ahead of the peloton.

They had a lead of 1.40 but that was not enough and Caja Rural's Omar Fraile took the win ahead of Pirazzi, Cunego, Pellizotti and Txurruka.
