Enceco Tour Stage Two Win For Andre Greipel

12 August 2015 03:35

Lotto Soudal's Andrei Greipel has taken victory on the second stage of the Eneco Tour.

Stage two was a 180km stage which started and finished in Breda and had Elia Viviani of Team Sky in the leader's jersey after his opening stage victory.

On a day of hardly any wind, Gijs Van Hoecke of Topsport and Jesper Asselman of Roompot slipped away and were five minutes clear with 155kms left.

That lead had gone out to 6.50 before dropping slightly when Van Hocke took the first Primus Sprint of the day.

With less than one hundred kilometres to go and the race now back in The Netherlands after visiting Belgium, the pair were 4.33 ahead and with two laps of a thirty kilometre circuit around Breda to go, their advantage stood at 3.33.

A minute had been knocked off by the Team Sky controlled peloton.

Over the finish line for the time and the gap was down to 2.41.

Jesper Asselman took the three Golden Kilometre sprints to become the virtual leader on the road but with fifteen kilometres left they were caught.

Lotto Soudal took control of the race and brought Andre Greipel who took the win with Aseelman taking over the race lead.
