Cavendish Bags Another Tour Of Turkey Stage Win

Mark Cavendish extended his lead in the 2015 Presidental Tour Of Turkey with a second consecutive victory.

With Mark Cavendish in the Torquoise leader's jersey, Caleb Ewen in the green points jersey, UnitedHealthCare's Federico Zurlo in the King Of The Mountains jersey and Lluis Mas (Caja Rural) in the White Beauty Sprints jersey, the riders rolled out on a 182.3km stage two from Alanya to Antalya.

Five riders in Luis Mas of Caja Rural, who took the early Beauty Sprint, Kevin De Mesmaeker of Novodisk, Adrien Niyonshuti of MTN Qhubeka, Federico Zurlo and Frederick Veuchelen of Wanty Group were in a break which had been three minutes ahead but was 2.15 clear after fifty four kilometres.

Thirty kilometres later and that lead had extended to 4.48.before dropping back to 3.12 with just under sixty kilometres left.

Ten kilometres later and there was a big crash on a slow left hand turn with three MTN Qhubeka riders involved.Zurlo who had taken the first sprint took the second sprint with thirty three kilometres left.

Going into the final twenty kilometres and the five out front were only a minute clear and with twelve kilometres left they were caught.

On wide roads on a day with no wind, speeds were high as Etixx moved six riders up to the front of the peloton.Local team Turku joined Etixx and MTN Qhubeka on the front along with Southeast and Unitedhealthcare who were also taking turns.

Riders were trying to get on Cavendish's wheel as they took a right handed and then a left to go under the flam rouge.

Mark Renshaw of Etixx Quick Step were leading out and Mark Cavendish won in 4.23.22 ahead of Modolo, Ruffoni, Moiano and Colli.
