Mark Cavendish has said that he wants stage wins not points in this year's Tour De France.

Speaking at Etixx Quick Step's pre-race press conference in the Jarbuur Conference Centre in Utrecht, Cavendish, who has always had a love for winning stages, said: "I'm absolutely not caring about the points. I just want to win stages.

"It's about crossing the line first. I've always tried to cross the finish line first. It's irrelevant what points are available at the finish line

"Anything is possible. It's possible to win the Tour. It's not realistic but it's possible for anybody who starts. You give your best. It's a jersey I haven't worn yet.

Cavendish, who is down the ramp in Utrecht at 14.32 and the thirty third rider to start said about the 13.7km time trial around Utrecht: "I'm not going to win the time trial but I'll go quite hard. Any rider here can go hard for 14 kilometres. We'll see what happens."
