Ben Hermans of BMC finished safely on the final stage to win the Tour Of Oman.

BMC’s Ben Hermans was again in the leader’s jersey for this final 130.5km stage from The Wave to Muttrah Corniche.

De Gendt, Keisse and Giraud were the first to break getting 2.40 ahead after 27kms on a day where there was strong crosswinds.

With 44.8kms covered in the first hour, the trio maintained a lead of two minutes which was down to forty five seconds when Mark Christian, Van Hecke, and Giraud jumped out of the peloton and went after them.

De Gendt took the first sprint and then the climb at Al Jissah as the lead went out to 1.15 but was back to down to fifty seconds as Katusha working for Alexander Kristoff took to the front of a re-grouped peloton.

Iljo Keisse attacked on his own with seven kilometres to go but was caught and Romain Bardet and Greg Van Avermaet briefly went away, only to be pulled back into line by the sprint trains.

Alexander Kristoff of Katusha was perfectly placed and he was first over the line in 2.57.03 ahead of Eduard Grosu and Sacha Modolo to take the stage victory as Ben Hermans finished safely to collect the overall title.
