Another Victory For Wout Poels In The Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana

Team Sky's Wout Poels has won the fourth stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana in Spain.

Saturday's stage was a 143.3km stage from Orihuela to Xorret de Cati which again had Wout Poels of Team Sky in the leader's jersey.

Eighteen riders tried to get away after 33kms were but were brought back by the peloton nine kilometres later.

Van Ginneken, Lampaert, Bertazzo, Laengen, Breschel, Gonzalez and  Pasqualon did get away with Gonzalez taking the climb at Alto de Maigmó.

With 85kms gone, this group were 2.12 ahead but down to 1.44 when - Lampaert of Etixx Quick Step took the sprint at  Castalla.

The lead group pressed on, although their lead dropped to around a minute with 33kms left.

They were left to dangle out front until Team Sky brought them back and then Wout Poels, ably assisted by three team mates started on the Perfil Xorret de Catí climb which had ramps of up to 19%.

Poels took on Fabio Aru and Dani Navarro who were joined by Rosa of Astana and Izagirre of Movistar and with two kilometres to go, went away and was able to take a superb victory in 3.26.31.

Poel's team mate Benat Intxausti finished second 22 seconds down with Izagirre of Movistar in third place.

Wout Poels leads Luis Leon Sanchez going into the final stage in Valencia on Sunday.
