Lotto Soudal's Andre Greipel has won the Ster ZLM Toer race in the Netherlands.

German champion Andre Greipel was in the lead in the overall standings, going into the final 183 kilometre stage which started in Eindhoven and finished in Boxtel.

Asselman, C.Bol, Jens Bol, Brusselman, Cordeel, Lemoine, Maes and van Zandbeek formed a break which was 1.30 clear with 115kms of racing remaining.

With around forty kilometres to go and the lead now down to just twenty two seconds, Asselman went solo, quickly pulling out a lead of seventeen seconds.

However, Greipel's Lotto Soudal team, who had been marshalling the peloton all through the stage, decided that they did not want any solo efforts that could affect the German and swiftly brought him back.

Jelle Wallays and Adrien Petit decided they would not be dictated to and launched an attack, only to be brought back.

Then Irishman Matt Brammeier of MTN Qhubeka got away. Being no threat to the General Classification, Brammeier was fifteen second ahead going into the final ten kilometres of the race and kept going to take the stage win with Andre Greipel finishing second twenty five seconds down, to take the overall victory.

Third on the stage was Greg Henderson, followed by Merlier, Schwarzmann, Groenewegen, Enger, Napolitano, Lampaert and Jans.
