Yorkshire could face struggle to hold on to coach Jason Gillespie

Yorkshire may face another struggle to hold on to their dual county championship-winning coach Jason Gillespie, if Australia try to recruit him at the end of this season.

Gillespie has led Yorkshire to successive titles, and was on the short-list last year to replace Peter Moores as England coach - a role eventually taken by his compatriot Trevor Bayliss.

Australia are currently without a bowling coach, following Craig McDermott's departure.

Gillespie's credentials, as a former fast bowler for his native country, are obvious - and Australia coach Darren Lehmann has confirmed he is sure to be in the running.

"Gillespie will certainly be at forefront with other bowling coaches," former Yorkshire batsman Lehmann told FIVEaa radio.

Australia are not expected to name a new bowling coach until the start of their domestic season this autumn - by which time Yorkshire and Gillespie hope to have sealed a hat-trick of consecutive championships.

The 41-year-old also coaches Big Bash franchise Adelaide Strikers, in Yorkshire's off-season.

"We hope we can entice him back," Lehmann added.
