Sam Hain carried on where he left off in the Royal London One-Day Cup last season as holders Warwickshire started their defence with a comprehensive 10-wicket North Group victory over Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.
The 21-year-old, the leading run-scorer in the 2016 competition with 540 at an average of 60, struck an unbeaten 89 off 84 balls as the Bears chased a revised target of 159 with 24 deliveries of the rain-reduced 30-over contest to spare.
Will Porterfield also compiled 63 not out after Warwickshire justified captain Ian Bell's decision to field with a superb bowling performance, dismissing Northants for 151.
