Emerging paceman Tom Helm has signed a contract extension at Middlesex, the county champions have announced.

The 22-year-old's time at Lord's has been hampered by injuries since catching the eye with five wickets on his first-class debut against Yorkshire in 2013.

But Middlesex managing director of cricket Angus Fraser has placed his faith in Helm by handing him a new deal which keeps him at the club until at least the end of the 2019 season.

Fraser said: "Tom has had no luck with injuries in the past couple of seasons but he remains one of the most exciting young cricketers in the country. This is why we will continue to support him."

Middlesex also announced 19-year-old batsman Max Holden will join Northamptonshire on loan until the end of June.
