Sussex have agreed to release batsman Craig Cachopa from his contract ahead of schedule.

The New Zealander, 24, is to leave the club and return home for personal reasons.

Cachopa, born in South Africa but available as a non-overseas player because he has a Portuguese passport, signed a contract extension earlier this year.

He is hoping a return to New Zealand will help him realise his international ambitions.

"I am grateful for the fantastic opportunity I have had over the past three years here at Sussex," said Cachopa.

"However, I think it is a good time for me to return to New Zealand to try and achieve some of my childhood dreams after some much-needed rest.

"I intend to spend some quality time with my family at home in New Zealand - resting before considering my options, and deciding on my next steps towards achieving my aspirations to play international cricket."
