Phil Mustard joins Gloucestershire until end of the season

Gloucestershire have signed outgoing Durham wicketkeeper-batsman Phil Mustard on loan for the remainder of the county season.

Mustard is to due to leave Chester-le-Street at the end of the campaign, ending a 16-year association with the club, after it was announced last week that his deal would not be renewed.

But despite opening the batting in the limited-overs formats - and being their leading run-scorer in the NatWest T20 Blast this year - Durham have allowed the 33-year-old to see out the remainder of his contract at Bristol, where he will provide cover after an injury to Gareth Roderick.

Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson said: "It's great that Phil has joined us for the rest of the season after Gareth's injury to his finger.

"He brings with him vast experience and match winning abilities which I'm sure he will show whilst at Gloucestershire."

Mustard would not be eligible to face Durham should they face Gloucestershire in the knockout stages of either limited-overs competitions.
